A Winter Wish

Choking on this summer air,

this humid fog-of-war.

My body wants sleep

but my soul wants more.



Now I kneel and pray,

That winters' icy breath,

Will come to fight the fog,

And wake me from my rest.



I miss the calm of winter.

The silence in the snow.

The crisp clarity of where I've been.

A blank page to where I'll go.



And if I did awaken,

On that cold winter morning,

Then to all the murderous tyrants;

I would give just one last warning.



'Behold those bloodstained hands that shake!

That tremble in your sleepless nights,

The hands that killed our brethren

and stole away their rights.



You tried to make us kneel,

But we stand here unbroken.

For  I  am  We - The - People

and The People have awoken
